A Lakeview Gardens Wedding That Never Let Up
Emily and Aaron’s Lakeview Gardens wedding was like no other. We knew the reception was going to be different when the introductions rolled straight into the wedding party Swag Surfin’. From there, the energy never really came back down. Their May 30 celebration became one of the craziest, most high-energy weddings we have ever DJed.
What made it work was that the night felt like Emily and Aaron. Their music choices, their friends and family, and the way they threw themselves into every moment gave the outdoor reception its own personality instead of feeling like a standard wedding playlist.
The Introductions Turned Into Swag Surfin’
The introductions were not just a quick formality. Emily and Aaron’s entrance flowed into “Swag Surfin’,” and the whole wedding party joined in. That moment gave the crowd permission to go all in right from the beginning.
A Playlist That Actually Felt Like Emily + Aaron
Emily told us one of her biggest pieces of advice for couples who want a high-energy reception is to take the time to create their own playlist. That showed all night. We were able to work in deeper hip-hop cuts from artists like Drake and Soulja Boy while still reading the crowd and moving with what their guests were responding to.
“The best advice I could give for a high energy reception is to take the time to create your own playlist! Plan a fun surprise for the reception that no one else knows about. It grabs everyone’s attention and keeps the night interesting!”
For us as wedding DJs, that kind of input gives us something real to build from. The couple brings the music that feels like them, and we use live mixing, transitions and crowd reading to keep the dance floor moving.
One of the Craziest Dance Floors We’ve Ever Had
Once open dancing took off, there was almost always something happening in the middle of the floor. Guests packed in around Emily and Aaron, the singalongs got louder, and the couple stayed right in the middle of their own party.
The Toby Keith Singalong
One of the moments that captures the night best happened when “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue” by Toby Keith came on. Emily climbed onto Aaron’s shoulders with her drink in the air and sang along while the crowd celebrated around them. It was loud, spontaneous and completely on brand for the kind of night this had become.
The Party Kept Escalating
The dance floor was going so hard that some of the groomsmen eventually took their shirts off. By that point, it felt less like everyone was attending a wedding reception and more like the entire crowd had become part of the party.
A Quiet Favorite After a Wild Reception
After all of that energy, Emily’s favorite memory was actually one of the quietest moments of the night. She and Aaron shared a private last dance to “Heaven” by Jason Aldean.
“My favorite moment from the reception was our private last dance! It was the perfect way to end the night with just the two of us.”
The Justin Bieber Wedding Surprise That Became a Viral Moment
Aaron had one more surprise planned for Emily. The hat, the microphone and the entire idea were his. Because “One Less Lonely Girl” is a staple for the two of them, Aaron recreated the moment Justin Bieber used to perform on tour so Emily could have her own “One Less Lonely Girl” experience.
Emily told us they both love Justin Bieber and that whenever the song comes on, they sing it as loud as they can. What started as a personal wedding surprise became a memory they will never forget and later a viral social media moment.
The Send Off
After their private last dance, Emily and Aaron came back out for their sparkler send off to “Getaway Car” by Taylor Swift. It gave them one more big moment with everyone before the night took one final unexpected turn.
And After the Send Off… Everyone Jumped in the Pool
The send off still was not the end. Everyone was so excited and still riding the energy of the reception that the celebration moved straight to the pool. Emily, Aaron and their guests jumped in together, giving the wedding the kind of ending you could never script.
A Lakeview Gardens Wedding We Won’t Forget
From Swag Surfin’ with the wedding party to deep hip-hop cuts, the Toby Keith shoulder ride, a dance floor wild enough for shirts to come off, the Justin Bieber surprise, a private last dance, a sparkler send off and then a pool jump, Emily and Aaron’s wedding was like no other. Every part of the reception felt like them.
